League History:
 In 1977, the league was the brain child of Robert Wagner, and was created by Wagner, J. Dusek, R. Rizzo, and D. Dodge. The league started with 6 teams consisting of 12 players each, and each team represented a district or a unit. By 1985, the league had grown to 8 teams with 12 players on each team. 
 In 1986, a draft system was introduced to the league, to level the playing field from teams being stacked with low handicap players that dominated matches. This system is still in use today, with minor tweaks along the way for a very equal playing field. This draft system created balance, and also allowed retired officers to participate and stay in touch with active officers.  
The league started at Palos CC and was there for 5 years before moving to Old Oak CC, which we've seen grow from a cow pasture to a beautiful, well maintained golf course. The league is open to any retired, active or former member of the CPD.
